REDEFINING LEADERSHIP AS UZUM SETS THE BALL ROLLING.

Leadership has remained one of the most crucial societal challenge in the African context, militating against development in the Sub Sahara.
There are lots of misconceptions about leadership with very few persons understanding what ideal leadership means, this has resulted in gross misuse of office, leadership crisis, underdevelopment, wrong approach to leadership, nepotism and so on.
Identifying mindset and misconceptions of the ideals of leadership most especially amongst the youth, the Executive Director of Uzumnism leadership Network, E.A Uzum Esq. Hosted youths from across board in a 45 minutes with him where he chapped on the missing links as regards youths and leadership.
During this highly effective and very engaging session, he was able to highlight the concepts of ideal leadership in a bid to reshape the mindset of youths.
He was able to reiterate that leadership is not about position but about being responsive to situations and circumstances in our everyday life and the act of taking responsibility that will engender better results, exposing the fact that youths do not need to hold an exalted Political, managerial or other offices of privilege before exercising leadership. In his exposition, leadership is required in all spheres, circles and levels of life.
He also noted that as a result of wrong mindset of leadership, youths rather than improving on themselves and preparing for leadership in an area of life, now find it more rewarding to result to sycophancy in other to get recommended for a position thereby encouraging mediocrity. In his opinion, leadership is not meant to be handed to someone based on nepotism but based on credibility, capacity, result and efficiency. He encourage youths to build themselves to become best leaders in their fields, organizations and government which will sought for them for solutions.
According to him, if you are not properly prepared for leadership, when you are given the position of leadership, you will fail and that is why we have had many emergency leaders that are crashing down like packs of ice and jeopardizing our society.
He further said that leadership is a process, which youths must practice, learn, improve, and subject themselves to mentorship by a greater leader because leaders are ladders.
In furtherance of his assertions, he said that leadership is about followership and loyalty with genuine courses because, you can not be a good leader if you are not a good follower. Leadership is about taking responsibility and not shifting blames, leadership is true service not personal gains, leadership is sacrifice and not opportunistic in nature. True leadership is about solutions and not sycophancy. Leadership lies in your abilities to solve problems and not in your position in the society.
The above is the very reason he has set up Uzumnism leadership Network to mentor and groom hound and youthful leaders, offering courses that will engender self development, improve leadership qualities in youths and prepare them for Political leadership, societal leadership and leadership in cooperate governance
